Health in Galway

Health care in Galway, as in all of Ireland, is expensive (consultation of 40 to 60€). It is therefore important to have your European Health Insurance Card and to take out additional insurance to be reimbursed for all your health costs.

EU citizens are covered in Ireland by their European health insurance card. As long as you hold this card, you will be treated as an Irish citizen in health care, whether you are visiting or staying permanently. Make sure you make the request well in advance, while you receive it. The request is made to Ameli Santé.

    1. I believe that what is necessary is well summarized. Remember to apply for a European health insurance card (it's free!)
Regarding consultations, I never needed one, but it seems that they take a long time to obtain (in Dublin). I advise you to take basic medicines in your luggage in case of small sores, Ibuprofen, Doliprane, Pain killers, Spasfon etc ... There are pharmacies here, as in France and certain medicines (eg Strepsile) are available in supermarkets -Romane
